- Review of major scales and major
seventh chords; guide tones; improvisation with Aebersold
tracks (week 1)
- Study of the Blues; mixolydian scales
and dominant 7th chords; blues riffs; V-I scales/chords
(weeks 2)
- Modal tunes; dorian scales and minor
7th chords; II-V-I scales/chords (week 3)
- Review of II-V material from 3rd and
7th; II-V licks in 12 keys; tunes with II-V's (week 4)
- lydian dominant scales and dominant
7(b5) chords; II-V licks; tunes with secondary dominants
and II-V's (week 5)

Daily Activities
- Scale Drill (verbally spell; play as a
group and solo-improvise between repetitions)
- Chord Drill (verbally spell; play as a
group and solo)
- Free playing (difficult key-scale of
the week)*
- Melodic Performance Ear Training (call
and response-scale of the week)*
- Harmonic Recognition (chord of the
week)
- II-V chords/scales/licks (play as a
group and solo)
- Transcription Performance (with
recordings and written solos as a group-sing and play)*
- Tune Study (chords/scale/guide tone
application, individual improvisation, solo concept
development)
