• Practice etudes lightly with a "lilting" quality

Jazz Materials:

• Tunes
• Be-bop scales (mixolydian w/maj7 up, and w/b9 down)
• Licks in 12 Keys

Jazz Improvisation Suggestions:

• Memorize the melody
• Embellish the melody
• Study the guide tones
• Embellish guide tones
• Practice and apply proper Be-bop articulation
• Play as much as possible in 12 keys
• Transcribe solos on a tune (of someone famous, of your teacher, of yourself)
